The Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago (RCSTT) provides free, confidential and professional counselling services to persons affected by Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) and other mental health conditions
In the early 1980’s a notable rise in the prevalence of sexual violence against women led to the formation of a group of professionals who were determined to protect women and girls in society. In 1984, this informal committee became registered as the Rape Crisis Committee. With initial funding from the Caribbean Conference of Churches, a hotline service that operated three nights per week for three hours 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm was established. In 1985, a full-time Coordinator and a Counsellor were employed. In 1986 the RCS became fully registered as a non-profit organisation and became formally known as the Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago.
The organization’s approach to supporting primary and secondary survivors of violence includes providing crisis hotline support, counselling, medical or other social support referrals, and capacity-building skills-training. Work to raise awareness on issues of gender-based violence includes educational outreach activities, community caravans, and counselling courses.
The work of RCSTT has been recognized as being necessary and commendable by the City of Port of Spain. In 2015, the President of Trinidad and Tobago awarded the organization The Medal for the Development of Women, Gold.

The Rape Crisis Society of Trinidad and Tobago is established to address the issues of Sexual and Domestic Violence, particularly as they impact the most vulnerable members of society, through counselling and public education.
